Are you a science enthusiast? Want to be part of one of the leading independent schools in the North, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and exciting practicals?

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated General Science Technician to provide support across the science faculty.

The main purpose of the role is to support with the preparation for practical work in line with the science curriculum, including the setting up of equipment and apparatus in the laboratories and classrooms. Other responsibilities include ensuring that appropriate stock levels of equipment, apparatus, materials and chemicals are checked periodically and maintained, and helping maintain the department's cleanliness and tidiness.

The successful applicant will ideally have a grade C or above in science or have previous technician experience. It's not essential that you have experience in handling laboratory equipment. If you are a self-starter and can work independently, we would love to hear from you.

The Science Faculty has an outstanding academic record at iGCSE, A-level and entry to highly competitive universities. Within the Science Faculty, biology, chemistry and physics operate as three separate disciplines with each department large enough to have a Deputy Head of Department, a technical Team Leader and a General Science Technician. One of the three Team Leaders is also the Lead Technician.

There is also the opportunity, if you wish, to gain extra responsibility and help with exciting projects as well as the planning and evaluation of practicals.

The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) is one of the leading schools in the north and traces its history back to 1552. In the last five years GSAL Senior School has twice been named North Independent School of the Year, and North Independent School of the Decade in the Sunday Times Parent Power League Table. The school aims to inspire all members of our community and to instil values of responsibility, respect and resilience in all of our pupils and colleagues.
