  • Salary: GSAL point 21: £28,251 FTE – Point 24: £29,721 FTE (dependent on experience). Actual salary payable based on 37.5, term-time only plus 8 additional days: £23,083.27 - £24,284.37 
  • Contract: Permanent, term time only + 8 additional days 
  • Hours: 37.5 or 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (10:15am – 6:15pm or 12:15pm – 6:15pm)

The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), recently awarded North Independent School of the Year 2024, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Manager for our popular GSAL Owls after-school care provision supporting children aged 3-11.

As Assistant Manager of GSAL Owls, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children aged 3-11. You'll work alongside and support the Owls Manager to help manage our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision by helping support the day to day organisation and leadership. This role also provides you with the exciting chance to occasionally deputise for the Owls Manager, enhancing your leadership and management experience. 

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Help lead and organise engaging daily activities tailored for EYFS children. 

  • Collaborate on planning innovative play programmes and manage childcare resources effectively. 

  • Support colleagues through guidance and supervision, ensuring high standards of care. 

  • Ensure children's wellbeing by adhering to EYFS guidelines, managing individual needs sensitively, and fostering a positive environment. 

  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community. 

  • Provide additional daytime support to the early years team as a teaching assistant where cover may be required. 

 

Who We're Looking For: 

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 2 or above in early years/childcare. 

  • Experience in early years education or similar childcare environments, ideally with some management or supervisory experience (but this is not mandatory). 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and colleagues. 

  • Paediatric first aid and food hygiene certifications are desirable (training provided if necessary). 

  • A creative, adaptable, and proactive team player with a genuine passion for childcare.
